Julie Rothschild experiments with fiber, steel and movement. Ever curious about the myriad ways we move in relationship to our environments and each other, she makes dances and artworks to materialize her questions and discoveries. As a young dancer, student and athlete, she saw dance vocabulary in everything. Dynamism everywhere. Nothing static. Her creative practice encompasses both this constant input and her desire for empty space.

Julie has most recently studied with sculptors Carl Reed and Andrew Hayes; fiber artists Judith Leeman, Rachel Relin and Michelle Batho; Dance Artists and Somatic Practitioners Gerri Houlihan, Carol Swann, Diane Elliot and Peggy Hackney.

Prior to her family’s move to Boulder, CO in 2009, her home towns include Palo Alto, CA; Urbana, OH; Lawrence, KS; Charlottesville, VA; and Athens, GA. From Julie’s upbringing on a berry farm in Ohio, to every town she has visited and lived in, the interconnectedness between each of these landscapes and communities is a steady dance partner.
