Women's Nordic Dryland Series
Taught by veteran Nordic instructors, Siga Andrew and Julie Rothschild
This 6 week series is suitable for women wanting to prepare for the upcoming Nordic Ski season, both classic and skate skiing. Each class will incorporate specialized exercises for strength, balance and flexibility. Classes are intentionally small to allow for individualized attention.
Dates: 6 consecutive Wednesdays from October 3 through Nov 7, 2018
Time: 9:00 am to 10:00 am
Location: FloorSpace Studio
Price includes: studio time with instructors for 6 sessions, a private extra session with chosen instructor, set of resistance bands for home exercise.
What to wear: comfortable clothing in which you can move freely, water bottle, towel if you wish. All mats and other equipment will be provided at the studio.

The first winter we lived in Boulder, CO, I realized that the Nordic skiing I have done for most of my life needed a serious overhaul. I signed up for the Women’s Program in 2010 and for the next few seasons, “studied” the art of Nordic Skiing with Eldora’s masterful teachers. I say “studied” because I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to understand the ins and outs of the techniques well enough that I could eventually ski with ease and even become a teacher. Rather unbelievably, Eldora hired me in 2014. So here we are!
I continue to learn and experiment and play with Nordic Ski Technique – it never gets old! I find that my training in dance, athletics and my work as an Alexander Technique Teacher and Movement Educator give me particular insights for working with my own skiing as well as that of my students.
I never stop working on my technique, even in the heat of the summer. Balance and strength exercises that are good for skiing are also good for everyday life!
An Alexander Technique Teacher since 2007, professional dancer since 1991, and all around movement enthusiast for all of my life, I am excited to be co-creating a program to help women build strength, improve balance and coordination, and ski with confidence and grace.

Ergonomics Educator, Physical Therapist, Exercise Physiologist, Personal Trainer, Nordic Instructor, Mother of Girls. Having moved to Boulder in 1996 where the real Nordic ski terrain is, I thought I had it all figured out…until I enrolled in Eldora’s Women’s Program in 2006 and realized that muscling through skating was very inefficient. Luckily, I caught on fast and found a passion for passing this knowledge on. With my PT background, I knew exercise for better Nordic skiing could be developed and I experimented with various things in the gym. I was invited to interview and landed a spot with the coveted Eldora Nordic Staff in 2007. Being able to wrap my passion for teaching, Nordic skiing, and physical therapy all into one job is a slice of heaven every winter.
Having co-taught several groups with Julie in the past few seasons, we both saw a need for giving clients a stronger start to the season. I am honored to partner her skills with mine to create a Nordic pre-season program that will target specific strength, balance and flexibility so that, as she says, you can ski with grace and confidence!
