"If you know what you are doing, you can do what you want." -Moshe Feldenkrais

The Feldenkrais® Method, developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, is a form of somatic education that uses gentle movements and attention to sensation as a means of better understanding how you move, think, and feel. In Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) Lessons, the student is verbally guided through patterns of movement that help them become aware of and move beyond habits that create pain, discomfort and/or physical difficulty. These classes are suitable for all, regardless of movement experience and/or physical limitation.  The Feldenkrais Method, in many ways, is about learning how you learn, and how you can access your own learning through movement and through sensing oneself.

Currently teaching Wednesday Nights 6:30 - 7:30

My goal is to produce the conditions in which you can learn the things you've always wanted to know, about yourself, about your culture, about the world.  From my perspective, movement is an ideal medium for this kind of study.   I'm dedicated to using movement to help people learn about the relationship between our involuntary life processes [breathing, postures, reflexes] and our capacity for making powerful choices about how to live our lives.

I have been a student of movement all of my life.  My early formal experiences were in gymnastics and martial arts.  In adolescence I spent my time skateboarding and learning to play jazz on the trombone.  I discovered contemporary dance and somatics in college while pursuing a degree in Cinema Studies, and now I filter daily movement life through my study Feldenkrais and his seminal American students.

I completed my four year professional Feldenkrais training in Berkeley, California under the direction of Dennis Leri, one of Feldenkrais' early American students.  I also studied for a year with David Zemach-Bersin, another early student, at the Feldenkrais Institute of New York City.

Laura Ann is a dancer, choreographer and movement educator in Colorado. She is an authorized student Awareness Through Movement® teacher, and training to become a Guild Certified Practitioner of The Feldenkrais Method under the educational direction of Alan Questel (Feldenkrais® in Santa Fe).
